DIY Custom Coffin Trinket Box

Originally posted on Crafty Amino, a crafter community app! Link here

Hello! And welcome to my first DIY tutorial! First these cute under 8" coffin boxes come out during October at Michael's stores. They used to be bigger but over the years they have gotten smaller.
Items needed::small_orange_diamond: wooden coffin box:small_orange_diamond: acrylic paint:small_orange_diamond: paint brushes:small_orange_diamond: beads/jewelry:small_orange_diamond: water:small_orange_diamond: glass glue or e6200 glue
{ONE}Make sure to work in an area you dont mind getting paint or glue on. Or have a plastic/canvas drop. I sometimes work ontop of a blank canvas. Have a cup of water to let your brushes soak after done painting ready.
{TWO} apply paint to your blank wooden Coffin. 3-4 layers to get a vibrant color since the wood soaks it up and will darken the color a bit. These boxes dont take long to dry so you can work pretty fast.
{THREE} once the first color is done in and add your accent color inside, you can do one side or all of it, its up to you! As well as a secondary darker accent to make the edges darker for another pop of color. Clean brushes. Also begin any extra color to the outside while your inside drys.
{FOUR} let it dry a bit before adding designs inside the box.
{FIVE} play with placement of beads & adornments first on the outside. Then I suggest take a picture incase you bump it and it scatters. Once you are happy with it begin to glue it down. Make sure you are in a well vented area, these glues have a strong odor.
{SIX} let it dry at least for 10 mins! Then begin adorning the inside. If you want to leave it as is then you are done!
Congrats on your first Coffin Trinket Box! I hope you enjoyed!

Latest Updates!!

Latest Updates till I work on more items!
Here are the new items listed on the etsy shop!

Last night I had an urge to sew some cute new designs I am in the brainstorming/sketching process! Yes everything I make is a sketch first before going onto fabrics. I have some fabrics that I couldn't think of what to make by themselves, so I combined two different fabrics. Baby/Toddler security blankies with hooks for grasping, mommy hooks or latching. Here are the 2:

But also while sewing my daughter was throwing a fit that I had put up the dinosaurs that I am selling, she was trying to keep them for her. So I made her an XXL large one with the fabric she picked out and a baby one size as well. She asked me at 1am, by 2am I was done stuffing and adding the button eyes. That smile was worth it!

Here are all the designs made in less than 4 hours! This makes me so happy that I can sew faster now and that the creativity doesnt stop just like when I am illustrating!

Other great items to buy!

Besides my handmade items, I do have artwork on totes, shirts, cell cases, stickers and more!
And actually I purchased 2 of my designs to test the size and durability of the totes for sale at society6.com, where I am currently offering my art on products.
I have washed the skull tote 3 times since it is my diaper bag as well. It still looks like when I got it! But I have noticed it has soften up a bit in texture but no damage to the print at all. The popcorn bag is a bit too small to be a diaper bag but still a great size for a fast run (few diapers and not bottles or extra change of clothes. Either way Society6 has great quality!

My other shop is at Redbubble, But all I have tested there is the shirts and they are great & holding up past many washes.

8 more items added to the etsy shop!
Will add the last 2 tomorrow! (I forgot to measure 2 items all this time)
then I can begin detailing the new Dinosaurs and more!

Added existing items to the Etsy shop

I have decided to turn off the storeenvy shop for now.
I am slowly moving items from storenvy into Etsy.
10 designs have been placed!

And 21 more to go! + the 10 new designs!
I still have lots of ideas for my little shop!

I keep hoping to make more sales but summer is coming and sales will slow even more. But I will need to find toy bloggers to review my toys since it was well received at tinygeese.com!
